WASHINGTON – On Tuesday, the leadership of Christians United for Israel (CUFI), the nation’s largest pro-Israel organization, welcomed the House of Representatives’ passage of the Protect Against Conflict by Turkey Act (H.R. 4695), and called upon the Senate to advance similar legislation introduced by Senators James Risch and Bob Menendez (S. 2641).

“We are very pleased the House of Representatives has passed legislation sanctioning Turkey for its invasion of Syria. Despite being a member of NATO, Turkey aligns itself with our adversaries, makes common cause with terrorist organizations, and attacks our allies. Put simply, the Erdogan regime is no ally at all and should be treated as such. These sanctions are a good step. Now it is time for the Senate to act,” said CUFI founder and Chairman Pastor John Hagee.

“We are very grateful to House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Eliot Engel and Ranking Member Michael McCaul for leading the bipartisan charge to advance tough sanctions on Turkey. Ankara must understand that their belligerence and brutality will not be tolerated by the freedom loving nations of the world. WASHINGTON – On Tuesday, the leadership of Christians United for Israel (CUFI), the nation’s largest pro-Israel organization, expressed support for sanctioning Turkey for that country’s violent and unprovoked actions in Syria.

“We cannot sit idly by as a radical Islamist strongman, who backs terrorists like Hamas, engages in the slaughter of our stalwart allies the Kurds. Nor can we be silent as this totalitarian threatens Middle Eastern Christians. The short-term consequence of the US pullback from Syria will be a humanitarian disaster that pushes the Kurds into the arms of our adversaries. In the long-term, an emboldened Turkey will have direct negative consequences for Israel as well as America’s standing amongst allies around the world,” said CUFI founder and Chairman Pastor John Hagee.

“Congress and the Administration should sanction Turkey without delay. In addition, plans for the Turkish President to visit the White House next month should be cancelled immediately,” Hagee added.

CUFI’s statement comes on the heels of the organization’s policy arm, the CUFI Action Fund, expressing concern with the Administration’s decision to open the door for Turkey’s attacks on America’s Kurdish allies in Syria.

“Turkey is not an ally, they are an adversary. Opening the door to their invasion in Northern Syria has already had disastrous consequences. We must use every tool in our diplomatic and economic arsenal to put a halt to the slaughter and stop Turkey’s advance,” said CUFI Action Fund Chairwoman Sandra Parker.

“The administration’s abandonment of our Kurdish allies only invites further destabilization and once again sends a message to allies in the Middle East that America is not a reliable partner — a message that our adversaries in Moscow and Tehran will further amplify to our detriment,” noted CUFI Action Director of Public Policy and Strategy Boris Zilberman in a recent op-ed.

WASHINGTON – On Friday, the Christians United for Israel (CUFI) Action Fund issued a statement urging Turkey’s dismissal from the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program after Turkey began taking delivery of the Russian S-400 missile system.

“Under the leadership of President Erodgan, Turkey continues its regression away from democratic values and towards pariah status. The country’s economy is paying the price, and now so too must its military. Turkey must be removed from the F-35 program,” said CUFI Action Fund Chairwoman Sandra Parker.

“We commend the bipartisanship leadership of the Senate Armed Services and Foreign Relations Committees for announcing their support for sanctioning Turkey under the Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act and removing Turkey from the F-35 program, and likewise welcome the bipartisan statement from the House Foreign Affairs Committee leaders calling for Turkey to be eliminated from the Joint Strike Fighter program,” Parker noted.

“Turkey’s continued belligerence, from this latest move to supporting terror and making common cause with America’s enemies, makes the Eastern Mediterranean Security and Partnership Act even timelier. Congress should move this bill forward without delay,” added CUFI Action Fund Director of Public Policy and Strategy Boris Zilberman.

The Eastern Mediterranean Security and Partnership Act was one of three pieces of legislation the 5,000 attendees at this week’s CUFI Washington Summit lobbied in support of. The other pieces of legislation were the Anti-Semitism Awareness Act and the Countering Hezbollah in Lebanon’s Military Act.

WASHINGTON – On Monday, the Christians United for Israel (CUFI) Action Fund released a statement expressing support for the Protecting Faith-Based and Nonprofit Organizations from Terrorism Act (S. 1539).

According to the bill’s authors, this legislation would “authorize $75 million annually for FYs 2020-2024 for the Department of Homeland Security’s Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP), which provides grants to nonprofits and faith-based organizations to help secure their facilities against a potential terrorist attack.”

“We applaud Senators Rob Portman and Gary Peters for recognizing the need for such legislation and working together in a bipartisan fashion to see it introduced. Houses of worship should know no violence whatsoever. It is heartbreaking that we need to enhance the protection of these most hallowed institutions, but that is the sad reality of the world in which we live. WASHINGTON – On Thursday, leaders of Christians United for Israel (CUFI), the nation’s largest pro-Israel organization, issued a statement welcoming President Trump’s comment that, “… it is time for the United States to fully recognize Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights…” The President’s comment comes after a month long CUFI lobbying campaign in support of the position and just one week after the group released a statement backing associated legislation.

“In our meetings with Administration and Capitol Hill officials there’s been a clear understanding of the Golan Heights’ importance to Israel’s security. We are very grateful to the President for having the courage to express that position and look forward to the US formally recognizing Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights,” said CUFI founder and Chairman Pastor John Hagee.

“When it was under Syrian control, the Golan Heights was used to attack Israeli civilians in the region below. During the Syrian civil war we saw all too well the brutality of the Assad regime, including the willingness of Damascus to use chemical weapons. Recognizing Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights is the right policy and the time to enact that policy has come,” Hagee added.

“We welcome the President taking such an unambiguous stance on Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights. And we also would like to thank those Members of Congress, in particular Sen. Ted Cruz and Rep. Gallagher, who elevated this issue by sponsoring S. 567/H.R. 1372.
