The Action Update: Confronting two seemingly perennial enemies and Tehran Wants

This past week, the Action Fund was focused on confronting two seemingly perennial enemies: the radical regime in Iran and the rising tide of anti-Semitism. The global pandemic, it would appear, has not softened the hearts of those who hate the Jewish people or the Jewish state.

The Action Update: The Threats are Still There

In this week’s Action Update, we’ll be covering a wide range of issues. Despite the worldwide pandemic, from Washington to Baghdad, Israel’s detractors and America’s enemies have not changed their stripes. The threats are still there, and it is vital we address them.

Op-ed: Don’t make the coronavirus an excuse for Iran’s bad behavior

In recent weeks, former Obama administration officials have been busy echoing Iranian calls for sanctions relief. They should be forcefully rejected by all those concerned with anything but enriching powerful regime leaders, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, and Iran’s terror proxies. Sanctions relief will not help the Iranian people. The architects and champions of the failed Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action know this, and their thinly veiled justification, COVID-19, is just their latest talking point in the effort to restore a policy of appeasement.

The Action Update: The Need for Combatting Anti-Semitism

Yesterday, the world commemorated Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day, yet sadly, the evil scourge of anti-Semitism continues to spread across our country and around the world. Nonetheless, the US-Israel relationship is stronger than it has ever been and continues to benefit both nations. In this week’s Action Update we take a look at the need for combatting anti-Semitism and report on joint American-Israeli efforts to combat COVID-19.

The Action Update: Bigotry, Hypocrisy, and Failures of the BDS Movement

Last week, Omar Barghouti, the founder of the anti-Semitic movement to Boycott, Divest from and Sanction (BDS) Israel, informed the world that while he supports a boycott of Israel, if the Jewish state develops a vaccine for the novel coronavirus, it’s ok to use that vaccine. In this week’s Action Update we delve into the bigotry, hypocrisy, and failures of the BDS movement.

The Action Update: Four Central Facts Ignored by Sanctions Relief Advocates

We’ve all heard and seen stories substantiating the belief that the COVID-19 pandemic is bringing out the best and worst in people. The same is true in the context of governments.

This week, a group of American and European diplomats issued a letter calling for the Trump administration to relieve sanctions on the Islamic Republic of Iran. The CUFI Action Fund opposes this move.

The Action Update: Strong US-Israel Relationship

The focus of this week’s CUFI Action Update is going to touch on a different aspect of our work. While the Action Fund does not engage in electioneering, and we see most Members of Congress from both sides of the aisle as generally open to hearing our arguments in support of a strong US-Israel relationship, even when we disagree with an elected official on one issue we can often find common ground elsewhere. In the rarest of circumstances, certain elected officials seem committed to opposing every element of the CUFI agenda. When that happens, we want to be sure that you have the public record available to you.

Op-ed: Don’t throw Iran a lifeline

Amid President Trump’s maximum pressure campaign against Tehran, a group of policymakers is seeking to undermine his efforts altogether and instead appease the leading state sponsor of terrorism.

Some politicians, such as Republican Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, continue to assert, wrongly, that it was a mistake to pull out of the Iran agreement. They condemn the Trump administration for killing Qassem Soleimani, and they seek to tie Trump’s hands in his efforts to protect the United States and our allies. Most importantly, they have been categorically wrong about the president’s interest in going to war.

The Action Update: Lebanon

This week, as the Action Fund Team continues our efforts to advance policy through virtual interactions, we saw some positive developments in the US-Israel relationship and even one coming out of Lebanon. Unfortunately, as this crisis brings out the best in our communities and our country, it seems to have brought out the worst in Tehran – despite the Islamic Republic being ravaged by the pandemic spreading across the world.

The Action Update: Never Again Education Act Update

As everyone is well aware, this week’s Action Update comes amidst a significant change in our daily interactions as Americans. Washington is largely physically shutdown, but that does not mean our work ceases. We’re taking full advantage of the 21st century technologies at our disposal to ensure that our message is heard by our elected officials.
