WASHINGTON – On Thursday, Christians United for Israel (CUFI) Action Fund issued a statement welcoming the Senate’s introduction of the United States-Israel Security Assistance Authorization Act:

“At a time when the free world faces unprecedented challenges and uncertainty in the Middle East, a strong US-Israel alliance is vital to ensuring the protection of American values and interests in the region.

“Similar legislation unanimously passed the House of Representatives, and this bill will enjoy overwhelming, bipartisan support in the Senate. The Senate should move this legislation forward without delay.

“CUFI has supported a version of this bill for several years. If, as occurred at the end of 2018, fringe elements in the upper chamber work to block this legislation, it is incumbent upon Senate leadership to ensure the will of the people is not defied and the bill receives an up or down vote.”

The CUFI Action Fund, a nonprofit 501(c)(4), nonpartisan organization, is related to the nation’s largest pro-Israel organization, Christians United for Israel (CUFI). The Action Fund is dedicated to ensuring our elected officials hear the perspective of the millions of Christian Zionists across the country. The Action Fund’s policy agenda includes support for a strong US-Israel relationship, standing up to anti-Semitism, defending Israel’s right to self-defense and self-determination, and opposition to regional bad actors such as Iran and Turkey and the terrorist organizations they support.

WASHINGTON – On Thursday, the leadership of Christians United for Israel (CUFI), the nation’s largest pro-Israel organization, welcomed the inclusion of the Eastern Mediterranean Security and Energy Partnership Act of 2019 in the Further Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2020.

“Under Erdoğan’s authoritarian administration, Turkey has abandoned the values that once made that nation an American and Israeli ally. The least we can do is increase the cooperation between the US, Israel, Greece, and Cyprus to show Ankara that nations large and small will not be bullied by Turkey,” said CUFI founder and Chairman Pastor John Hagee.

“If Turkey persists in its turn towards Russia and Iran, their economy will suffer, and very soon they will discover the only allies they have are those who encompass the small axis of pariah states,” Hagee went on to say.

“This bill, which has been a top CUFI priority since our July Washington Summit, will enable enhanced cooperation between the US and the Mediterranean democracies most affected by Turkey’s radical, violent and anti-western policies,” said CUFI Action Fund Chairwoman Sandra Parker.

“Congressional passage of this bill comes not a moment too soon. As we’ve seen, Turkey grows more brazen by the day. In fact, just recently, we saw Turkish warships chase an Israeli research vessel out of Cypriot waters. One cannot appease a radical or a bully, and we are grateful to Senators Menendez and Rubio, Representatives Deutch and Bilirakis, and both the House and Senate leadership for their focus on this issue,” Parker added.

With more than 7 million members, Christians United for Israel is the largest pro-Israel organization in the United States and one of the leading Christian grassroots movements in the world. CUFI spans all fifty states and reaches millions with its educational message.

Legislation contains several of the CUFI Action Fund’s major priorities

WASHINGTON – On Tuesday, the leadership of the Christians United for Israel (CUFI) Action Fund welcomed Congressional approval of several significant CUFI Action Fund priorities, all of which were contained within the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

With the strong support of the CUFI Action Fund, the NDAA contained a limitation on the transfer of F-35 aircraft to the Republic of Turkey (section 1245), a repeal of a U.S. prohibition on arms sales to Cypress (section 1250 A), and a requirement that the Secretary of Defense provide a report to Congress concerning Hezbollah’s influence over the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) and the LAF’s coordination and communication with the terrorist organization.

Additional items supported by CUFI and contained in the NDAA include a provision concerning U.S.-Israel cooperation to counter unmanned aerial systems (section 1278), an extension and modification of authority for U.S.-Israel anti-tunnel cooperation activities (section 1279), and a provision concerning the Iron Dome short-range rocket defense system and Israeli cooperative missile defense program co-development and co-production (section 1685).

“Congress has once again shown that support for the U.S.-Israel relationship and opposition to regional adversaries like Turkey enjoys widespread bipartisan support. Efforts by fringe elements to hijack the congressional and national discourse on the Middle East must be rejected at every turn,” said CUFI Action Fund Chairwoman Sandra Parker.

The CUFI Action Fund, a nonprofit 501(c)(4), nonpartisan organization, is related to the nation’s largest pro-Israel organization, Christians United for Israel (CUFI). CUFI Leaders Applaud White House for Order Combating Anti-Semitism

Policy adopting IHRA definition of anti-Semitism was CUFI’s Top 2019 Priority

WASHINGTON – On Wednesday, the leadership of Christians United for Israel (CUFI), the nation’s largest pro-Israel organization, applauded the Trump administration’s announcement that the President will issue an executive order adopting the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s (IHRA) definition of anti-Semitism for the purposes of government agencies tasked with enforcing Title VI.

CUFI founder and Chairman Pastor John Hagee and CUFI Action Fund Chairwoman Sandra Parker will be on hand at the White House as the President signs the order.

CUFI has sought to advance the Anti-Semitism Awareness Act, which is expanded upon and mirrored by the executive order, since Parker testified on the matter before the House Judiciary Committee in 2017. Since that time, CUFI has consistently worked in support of the measure, and its leaders have authored several op-eds addressing the issue, including one as recently as last month.

“One cannot defeat that which they are unwilling to define. As such, advancing the Anti-Semitism Awareness Act has been CUFI’s top policy priority of the year. Through this executive order, President Trump will achieve what Congress could not bring themselves to do: take an important first step in combating the scourge of anti-Semitism that has spread across our nation,” Hagee said.

“Countries around the world adopted the IHRA’s definition while our leaders in Washington were too paralyzed to do so. I and CUFI’s 7 million members are very grateful to the President for his unequivocal stance on this vital issue,” Hagee added.

“At a time of extreme partisanship, the Anti-Semitism Awareness Act enjoyed widespread bipartisan support but not even that enabled the legislation to overcome the gridlock on Capitol Hill. It is astonishing to me that Congress dithered with meaningless resolutions while violent anti-Semitic incidents were surging across the country, but it is precisely because of such Congressional paralysis that President Trump’s executive order is the right and necessary path to adopting the IHRA’s definition,” Parker said.

“We are grateful to President Trump for having the courage to take this stand, and for Jared Kushner’s tireless efforts to shepherd this order forward,” Parker noted.

With more than 7 million members, Christians United for Israel is the largest pro-Israel organization in the United States and one of the leading Christian grassroots movements in the world. CUFI spans all fifty states and reaches millions with its educational message.

WASHINGTON – On Tuesday, the leadership of Christians United for Israel (CUFI), the nation’s largest pro-Israel organization, welcomed the House of Representatives’ passage of the Protect Against Conflict by Turkey Act (H.R. 4695), and called upon the Senate to advance similar legislation introduced by Senators James Risch and Bob Menendez (S. 2641).

“We are very pleased the House of Representatives has passed legislation sanctioning Turkey for its invasion of Syria. Despite being a member of NATO, Turkey aligns itself with our adversaries, makes common cause with terrorist organizations, and attacks our allies. Put simply, the Erdogan regime is no ally at all and should be treated as such. These sanctions are a good step. Now it is time for the Senate to act,” said CUFI founder and Chairman Pastor John Hagee.

“We are very grateful to House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Eliot Engel and Ranking Member Michael McCaul for leading the bipartisan charge to advance tough sanctions on Turkey. Ankara must understand that their belligerence and brutality will not be tolerated by the freedom loving nations of the world. We call upon the Senate to now quickly advance similar legislation and we are grateful to Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman James Risch and Ranking Member Bob Menendez for leading this bipartisan effort in the upper chamber,” said CUFI Action Fund Chairwoman Sandra Parker.

WASHINGTON – On Tuesday, the leadership of Christians United for Israel (CUFI), the nation’s largest pro-Israel organization, expressed support for sanctioning Turkey for that country’s violent and unprovoked actions in Syria.

“We cannot sit idly by as a radical Islamist strongman, who backs terrorists like Hamas, engages in the slaughter of our stalwart allies the Kurds. Nor can we be silent as this totalitarian threatens Middle Eastern Christians. The short-term consequence of the US pullback from Syria will be a humanitarian disaster that pushes the Kurds into the arms of our adversaries. In the long-term, an emboldened Turkey will have direct negative consequences for Israel as well as America’s standing amongst allies around the world,” said CUFI founder and Chairman Pastor John Hagee.

“Congress and the Administration should sanction Turkey without delay. In addition, plans for the Turkish President to visit the White House next month should be cancelled immediately,” Hagee added.

CUFI’s statement comes on the heels of the organization’s policy arm, the CUFI Action Fund, expressing concern with the Administration’s decision to open the door for Turkey’s attacks on America’s Kurdish allies in Syria.

“Turkey is not an ally, they are an adversary. Opening the door to their invasion in Northern Syria has already had disastrous consequences. We must use every tool in our diplomatic and economic arsenal to put a halt to the slaughter and stop Turkey’s advance,” said CUFI Action Fund Chairwoman Sandra Parker.

“The administration’s abandonment of our Kurdish allies only invites further destabilization and once again sends a message to allies in the Middle East that America is not a reliable partner — a message that our adversaries in Moscow and Tehran will further amplify to our detriment,” noted CUFI Action Director of Public Policy and Strategy Boris Zilberman in a recent op-ed.

WASHINGTON – On Friday, the Christians United for Israel (CUFI) Action Fund issued a statement urging Turkey’s dismissal from the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program after Turkey began taking delivery of the Russian S-400 missile system.

“Under the leadership of President Erodgan, Turkey continues its regression away from democratic values and towards pariah status. The country’s economy is paying the price, and now so too must its military. Turkey must be removed from the F-35 program,” said CUFI Action Fund Chairwoman Sandra Parker.

“We commend the bipartisanship leadership of the Senate Armed Services and Foreign Relations Committees for announcing their support for sanctioning Turkey under the Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act and removing Turkey from the F-35 program, and likewise welcome the bipartisan statement from the House Foreign Affairs Committee leaders calling for Turkey to be eliminated from the Joint Strike Fighter program,” Parker noted.

“Turkey’s continued belligerence, from this latest move to supporting terror and making common cause with America’s enemies, makes the Eastern Mediterranean Security and Partnership Act even timelier. Congress should move this bill forward without delay,” added CUFI Action Fund Director of Public Policy and Strategy Boris Zilberman.

The Eastern Mediterranean Security and Partnership Act was one of three pieces of legislation the 5,000 attendees at this week’s CUFI Washington Summit lobbied in support of. The other pieces of legislation were the Anti-Semitism Awareness Act and the Countering Hezbollah in Lebanon’s Military Act.

WASHINGTON – On Monday, the Christians United for Israel (CUFI) Action Fund released a statement expressing support for the Protecting Faith-Based and Nonprofit Organizations from Terrorism Act (S. 1539).

According to the bill’s authors, this legislation would “authorize $75 million annually for FYs 2020-2024 for the Department of Homeland Security’s Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP), which provides grants to nonprofits and faith-based organizations to help secure their facilities against a potential terrorist attack.”

“We applaud Senators Rob Portman and Gary Peters for recognizing the need for such legislation and working together in a bipartisan fashion to see it introduced. Houses of worship should know no violence whatsoever. It is heartbreaking that we need to enhance the protection of these most hallowed institutions, but that is the sad reality of the world in which we live. The CUFI Action Fund fully supports the senators’ effort to protect faith-based and nonprofit organizations,” said CUFI Action Fund Chairwoman Sandra Parker.
