Legislation contains several of the CUFI Action Fund’s major priorities

WASHINGTON – On Tuesday, the leadership of the Christians United for Israel (CUFI) Action Fund welcomed Congressional approval of several significant CUFI Action Fund priorities, all of which were contained within the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

With the strong support of the CUFI Action Fund, the NDAA contained a limitation on the transfer of F-35 aircraft to the Republic of Turkey (section 1245), a repeal of a U.S. prohibition on arms sales to Cypress (section 1250 A), and a requirement that the Secretary of Defense provide a report to Congress concerning Hezbollah’s influence over the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) and the LAF’s coordination and communication with the terrorist organization.

Additional items supported by CUFI and contained in the NDAA include a provision concerning U.S.-Israel cooperation to counter unmanned aerial systems (section 1278), an extension and modification of authority for U.S.-Israel anti-tunnel cooperation activities (section 1279), and a provision concerning the Iron Dome short-range rocket defense system and Israeli cooperative missile defense program co-development and co-production (section 1685).

“Congress has once again shown that support for the U.S.-Israel relationship and opposition to regional adversaries like Turkey enjoys widespread bipartisan support. Efforts by fringe elements to hijack the congressional and national discourse on the Middle East must be rejected at every turn,” said CUFI Action Fund Chairwoman Sandra Parker.

The CUFI Action Fund, a nonprofit 501(c)(4), nonpartisan organization, is related to the nation’s largest pro-Israel organization, Christians United for Israel (CUFI). The Action Fund is dedicated to ensuring our elected officials hear the perspective of the millions of Christian Zionists across the country. The Action Fund’s policy agenda includes support for a strong US-Israel relationship, standing up to anti-Semitism, defending Israel’s right to self-defense and self-determination, and opposition to regional bad actors such as Iran and Turkey and the terrorist organizations they support.
