Pardon our bluntness, but the effort to contend with Iran’s malevolence is not going particularly well. In order for Tehran’s behavior to be addressed, Washington must take a comprehensive approach to the Iranian threat. Unfortunately, while the Biden Administration has made some steps in the right direction, their overall foreign policy betrays a weakness to which our allies and adversaries are reacting. We’ll start with the good news, but don’t get your hopes up.

In recent days, the Biden administration’s top defense policy official told Congress that it would take the Islamic Republic “about 12 days” to produce enough fissile material for a single nuclear bomb. This doesn’t mean they’ll have a bomb next week – there are other technological advancements that are required in order to put a nuke on the tip of a missile – but needless to say, this news is not good. All of the events taking place on the world’s stage that we plan to discuss this week impact each other, and in order to appreciate them one must take a holistic view of national security and foreign policy. As such, in this week’s Action Update we’ll go around the world, from Jerusalem to Washington and from Kabul to Tehran.
Tragedy has befallen Afghanistan. As Pastor John Hagee, the founder and Chairman of Christians United for Israel (CUFI) recently noted, “While there may be no easy answers to Afghanistan’s history of troubles, there could have been an organized and professional effort to ensure that every American and every person who aided our efforts there these past twenty years, was able to exit the country. To our utter shame, that is not the case.”
In this week’s Action Update we discuss the implications of the Taliban’s rapid takeover of Afghanistan just weeks shy of the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
In this week’s Action Update we devote some time to a topic we’ve not discussed in a while: Lebanon. And we also return to our on again/off again effort to end on some good news. But no matter the subject, the topics this week are of significant importance to anyone who values the US-Israel relationship – regardless of how much (or how little) you might see these issues covered in the mainstream press.

But their people have long been disgusted with their leaders, and a war criminal now occupies the President’s chair in the Islamic Republic.
